Clean, green energy creates a new economic era

On March 31, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Association of Economic Sciences and the Vietnam Clean Energy Association, in collaboration with Vietnam Economic Magazine, organized the Vietnam Energy Forum 2025 with the theme: “Clean, green energy creates a new economic era – Solutions to promote rapid development of new energy sources”.

Speaking at the opening of the Forum, Dr. Chu Van Lam, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Economic Sciences Association, Chairman of the Editorial Board of Vietnam Economic Journal, said that the forum aims at 3 goals:Update new directions, adjustments to mechanisms and policies for energy industry development to help interested parties, especially investors and businesses, fully grasp information; Discuss opinions, exchange, analyze and evaluate experts and project development investors on international trends and experiences, investment practices and development of energy projects in Vietnam in association with Vietnam’s policies and strategies. At the same time, propose solutions, including policy solutions, to effectively implement and promote the contributing role of the energy industry value chain to the goals of growth and sustainable economic development of the country.

Panorama of the Forum

The forum consists of two sessions. The discussion session focused on the following issues: Trends in green and clean energy transition in the world and Vietnam; Electricity demand meets Vietnam’s short-term, medium-term and long-term goals; current status of renewable energy projects being implemented in Vietnam; Update and analyze new points about Vietnam’s policies and strategies for energy development in general and new energy sources.

At the discussion session, delegates focused on discussing the development possibilities of new energy sources on the basis of strategic orientations and policy mechanisms on Vietnam’s energy sector that have been announced and are being revised, adjusted and supplemented; evaluate the appropriateness and facilitation of approaches to amending current laws related to energy development as well as electricity and energy development planning;

Experts make comments and evaluate the ability to supply electricity from energy sources as set goals, meeting the requirements for economic growth in the medium and long term. On that basis, propose solutions to accelerate the process of completing policies as well as speed up the progress and effectiveness of implementation of renewable, green and clean energy projects approved recently; At the same time, creating attractiveness for new projects.
