KHANH HOA: BY 2030, 50% OF HOMES WILL USE ROOFTOP SOLAR POWER
Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee has planned to cuts public lighting capacity by 50% to save electricity in the period 2023-2025 and the following years.
Accordingly, Khanh Hoa sets a goal in the period 2023-2025 and the following years, striving to save at least 2% of total electricity consumption in the province each year; Reduce power loss on the province’s power system below 5% by 2025.
Along with that, reduce the peak load capacity of the electricity system in the province through implementing electricity demand management (DSM) and electricity load regulation (DR) programs, at least 80MW by 2025. Khanh Hoa also strives to have 50% of office buildings and 50% of residential homes use self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power by 2030 (serving on-site consumption, not selling electricity to the national power system).

To achieve this goal, Khanh Hoa recommends that agencies, offices, and headquarters ensure annual savings of at least 5% of total electricity consumption during the year; Utilize and mobilize resources to install and use rooftop solar power systems and solar water heating systems to reduce electricity consumption from the national electricity system.
Organizations and individuals managing and operating public lighting systems, lighting systems for advertising and outdoor decoration purposes are guaranteed to save at least 30% of total electricity consumption in the period 2023-2025. ; Use high-performance, energy-saving lighting equipment for 100% of public lighting projects preparing to invest in new construction, renovation, and upgrading; Accelerate the process of implementing lighting automation according to the time frame and weather conditions of public lighting projects.
For households, encourage the installation and use of self-use rooftop solar power systems for on-site use, and solar water heating systems. Commercial and service businesses limit the use of high-capacity equipment that consumes a lot of electricity during peak hours; Encourage the use of local energy sources with renewable energy sources and electrical equipment using renewable energy.
For businesses that produce, install, and integrate renewable energy sources such as solar energy and wind energy into internal energy systems; Prioritize the use of appliances labeled with high energy efficiency; Deploy and apply the energy management system according to ISO 50001:2018 standards; Applying advanced technology machinery and equipment, optimizing production materials. Particularly, energy-using facilities with electricity consumption of 1 million kWh/year or more must save at least 2% of electricity consumption per unit of product per year or save at least 2% of total electricity. consumed during the year.
In the first 7 months of 2023, the entire Khanh Hoa province saved over 30 million kWh of electricity, of which, the electricity output saved by public administrative agencies was 14 million kWh – accounting for 8.46% of electricity consumption, public lighting saves more than 3 million kWh – accounting for 7.54% of electricity consumption, domestic lighting saves more than 8 million kWh, electricity savings in production more than 4 million kWh, in the business sector is 1 million kWh.
