i-rec certificate
Understanding International Renewable Energy Certificates (IREC)
International Renewable Energy Certificate (I-REC) represents clean electricity generated by renewable energy plants such as hydroelectricity, wind power, solar power, and biomass. I-REC certificates are tradable and a useful tool for businesses around the world to fulfill their commitments to using clean energy and reducing GHG emissions (indirect greenhouse gas emissions from electricity consumption)
I-REC certificates are widely used around the world. For each 1MWh of electricity, businesses can purchase an equivalent of 1MWh of International Renewable Energy Certificates (I-RECs) to offset. Using this mechanism allows businesses to fulfill their commitments to using clean energy and achieving green business standards
Realizing that more and more companies are concerned about the energy they consume and want to know about its source, PEC has developed a green energy solution and is responsible for applying for I-REC certification to assist customers in choosing the right certification program for their projects.
