It is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea (Global Executive HQ) and Thalheim, Germany (Technology & Innovation HQ). With its diverse international manufacturing facilities in South Korea, Malaysia and China, Hanwha Q CELLS is in a unique position to flexible address all global markets. Hanwha Q CELLS offer the full spectrum of photovoltaic products and solutions, from modules to systems and large scale solar power plants.
Hanwha Q CELLS, as an affiliate of the Hanwha Group with assets over $150 Billion, is both a trusted and bankable solar partner for our customers worldwide. Their cell production capacity of 8 GW and solar module manufacturing capacity of 8 GW (as of 2017 second half) makes us the largest cell manufacturers and one of the biggest solar module manufacturers in the world. They have a Tier 1 Bloomberg rating and are a BNEF Top Tier module supplier.
How to compare Hanwha Q CELLS solar panels to other manufacturers’s panels?
There are three main issues that you should consider when evaluating solar cell quality: performance, temperature coefficient and warranty.
Hanwha Q CELLS PV panel performance
The term “solar PV performance” refers to the ability to capture sunlight and turn into electricity. Under the same conditions, a high-performance solar panel will generate more electricity than a lower-performance solar panel of the same size. For this reason, PV panel companies rated as having higher performance are often preferred.
The performance of Hanwha Q CELLS solar panels will vary depending on the specific type of battery you choose for your system. Across the Q CELLS product range, solar panels are efficient from 15.9% to 18.3%. In general, most Hanwha Q CELLS solar cells have standard performance for solar power, PV panels with > 18% efficiency are considered high performance.
Hanwha Q CELLS PV panel temperature coefficient
The temperature coefficient is an indicator that assesses the ability of a PV panel to handle under-ideal conditions. PV panels, like other electronic devices, work better when they are kept at cool temperatures (ideally around 25°C/77°F). The temperature coefficient shows how the performance of PV panel will change on hot summer days.
For each degree exceeding 25°C (77°F), the amount of electricity generated will decrease with the temperature coefficient. For example: Q CELLS Q.POWER-G5 280 solar cell has a temperature coefficient of -0.4%/°C. This means that, if the temperature of a solar cell rises by one degree from 25°C (77°F) to 26°C (79°F), the power output it produces will decrease by 0.4%. If its temperature rises to 35°C (95°F), the amount of electricity produced will decrease by 4%.
PV panels are likely to experience some heat waves each year, so the most ideal PV panel is a panel with the lowest possible coefficient of temperature. Hanwha Q CELLS solar panels have a coefficient of temperature ranging from -0.4 to -0.39.
Hanwha Q CELLS PV panel warranty
The material warranty of a PV panel (sometimes called product or equipment warranty) is a guarantee from the manufacturer that they will replace PV panel if it is not working properly due to a manufacturing fault or environmental issues.
Hanwha Q CELLS offers a 12-year warranty for any defects that occur with their solar panels, a 25-year performance warranty.
